Image to Link - a direct link that shows your image

This image to link tool gives you a direct, hotlinkable URL that loads as the picture itself, not a webpage or a gallery page. Paste it into Discord, Reddit, a forum post, or a chat and people see the image inline. No signup, no watermark, nothing to click through.

How the image to link tool works

1

Upload your image

Drag in a JPG, PNG, WebP, or GIF up to 50MB, or click to browse. There is no account to create and no email to hand over.

2

Copy the direct link

We store the file on a global CDN and hand back a direct link in a second or two. It points straight at the image file, so it embeds cleanly wherever you drop it.

3

Paste it anywhere

Drop the link into Discord, Reddit, a forum, an email, or a doc. Sites that auto-embed will render it as the actual image instead of a plain attachment.

Why use this image to link generator

Links that render as the image

The whole point of an image link generator is a URL that ends in the file, so Discord, Reddit, and most forums show the picture inline rather than a link card or download prompt.

Anonymous and free

No signup, no login wall. Imgur quietly pulled anonymous uploads and started breaking older links, so people came looking for something steadier. Here you just upload and copy.

No compression, fast worldwide

Your image is served at full quality with no re-encoding, off a CDN with edge nodes around the world, so it loads quickly no matter where the viewer is.

Image link hosts compared

Plenty of free hosts will give you a link. Where they differ is whether you need an account, how large a file you can upload, and whether the link actually embeds as the picture instead of opening a page. Here's how the popular ones compare.

What is an image link?

An image link is a web address that points at a picture file rather than at a page about it. It usually ends in .jpg, .png, .webp or .gif, and when you open it you see only the image, nothing else. That's what makes it useful: apps that understand a URL can pull the picture in and show it inline. A normal website link, by contrast, lands you on a full page with menus, text and ads around the image. The link this tool makes is the first kind, the one that embeds.

Direct image link vs page link

A direct image link goes straight to the file - something like https://imagetourl.cloud/abc123.png - and ends in an image extension. Paste it into Discord or Reddit and the picture appears on its own. A page link, like an Imgur or Flickr gallery address, points at a web page that wraps the image in everything else on the site. Those don't embed; they show a link card or make people click through. If a picture won't display when you paste it, you've almost certainly grabbed a page link. The fix is to copy the image's own direct address, which is what you get here.

Why share a link instead of the file?

Attachments are clumsy. They sit behind a download button, they bloat email threads, and some forums and chat apps block them or cap the size. A link sidesteps all of that. One short URL renders the picture inline, costs nothing to send, and you can drop the same link in ten different places without re-uploading. It also keeps the original on your own machine, since you only share the copy on the CDN. For screenshots, memes, bug reports and reference images, a link is usually the cleaner way to go.

Where an image to link converter helps

A direct image link works in the places that expect a real file URL:

Discord and chat

Paste the link in a Discord channel or DM and it expands into the image preview. Handy for memes, screenshots, and reference shots you do not want to attach as files.

Reddit and forums

Many subreddits and old-school forums accept a direct image link and inline it for you, instead of forcing readers onto a separate gallery or hosting page.

Signatures, bug reports, and docs

Use the link in a forum signature, a GitHub issue, a Google Doc, or an email. Because it loads as an image, the reader sees it without downloading anything.

Image to link FAQ

How do I turn an image into a link?

Upload it in the box above to get a direct URL, then use that URL as the link. To make the link display the image (Discord, Reddit, forums) paste the raw URL; to make clickable text, wrap it as [text](your-url) in Markdown or in an HTML anchor. The same steps make an image into a link whether it is a photo, a screenshot, or any other picture. No signup is needed and it takes a couple of seconds.

What is an image link generator?

It is a tool that takes your uploaded picture and gives back a direct URL pointing at the file. That link is what you share, and supported sites render it as the image instead of a download or a gallery page.

Will the link show the image in Discord, Reddit, or forums?

Yes. The link points straight at the image file, so Discord, most subreddits, and typical forums embed it as the picture rather than showing a plain attachment or a gallery page.

Why won't my image link show up as a picture?

You've probably copied a page link instead of a direct one. A gallery or article address points at a web page, not the file, so it shows a link card or nothing at all. Grab the image's own URL - the one that ends in .jpg, .png, .webp or .gif - which is exactly what you get here.

Can I use the link in HTML or Markdown?

Yes. It's a normal direct image URL, so it works in an HTML <img src> tag, Markdown image syntax, CSS background-image, and any site builder that accepts an image link.

Is it free and anonymous?

Both. There is no charge, no account, and no email required. Upload, copy your link, and go. People moved here in numbers after Imgur ended anonymous uploads in 2023.

How long does the link last?

Anonymous uploads stay live until our monthly storage cleanup, so you get at least a couple of weeks and usually more. Need a link that never expires? Make a free account and choose "keep forever" when you upload. Either way, keep your own copy of the original as a backup.

Does it compress my image or add a watermark?

No. The file you get back is the file you uploaded, at full resolution, with no re-compression and no watermark. That's different from hosts that quietly shrink hotlinked images to around 1,280px.

What image formats and sizes work?

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and SVG, up to 50MB per file. The link ends in the real extension, so it hotlinks and embeds the same way the original file would.

What is the difference between an image link and an image URL?

In practice they are the same thing. Both are a direct link that loads the image file itself. People say "image to link" when they specifically want a URL that embeds as the picture in Discord, Reddit, and forums.
